Hon. Nathaniel Robbins Sir Having been informed of your ill health and the possibili- ty of your being prevented from acting in concert with the other Commissioners, Henry Millard & Kelsey H. Douglas Esquires, if you cannot co-operate with them, you will send them the in- structions which were forwarded to you and inform them that I desire to have a Treaty as soon as possible, and that all dis- turbances are to be kept down on the frontier, until they have orders from this Department unless there should be an actual in- vasion. I trust however your health will enable you to act with them; and that you and they will be able to carry my wishes into im- mediate execution- T'he Government have appropriated$ 20,000 to be expended in Articles for the use of the Indians- You will tell them that" I have presents for them of Paint Tobacco &c as proof of friendship and that I want to see the Chiefs when the Grass rises. Let it be stated where they are to come on the Brazos, and I will send men to convey them to me, where they will be safe a!}d not injured.
