Col. Johnston will require some facilities in the way of print- ing. He desires to have sundry blanks &c printed for the use of the Army &c and he is authorized to call upon you for assistance in accomplishing this part of his mission. You will therefore please cause to be executed all such printing as Col. Johnston may require and charge the same to the Govern- ment or defray the expenses out of any money in your hands belonging to the Government not otherwise appropriated. Sam Houston Benj. As an individual, I claim leave to recommend him to your manly, and generous regard. Not unaware, that ma[n]y circumstances con- nected, with the prejudices of the present time, may be calculated to influence, most minds; and create a feeling which if indulged might be injurious, to the reception, which I claim to solicit for Genl Sant Anna in Washington; I feel confident, that with you, he can at all times realise, a just estimation, of his worth, as a soldier and a Gentleman.
