Washington, Texas, Dec. 27, 1835. To All Volunteers and Troops for the Aid of Texas in her Con- flict: I now recommend to come by sea, and to ]and at Copano, Coxes Point, or Matagorda. The time employed will be less than one- fourth that which would be needful to pass by land. · To those who would prefer to pass by land, I would recom- mend to bring Baggage Wagons; and to bring NO HORSES, unless for teams, or for packing. By the first of March the campaign will open. Sam Houston.

Colonel Wyatt3, with two attachments of auxiliary volunteers, is on his way to the vicinity of Capano, for the purpose of pro- tecting that point, so essential to the present posture of our af- fairs. I hope that you will afford him all the possible intelli- gence, and render to him all the necessary aid, ... Colonel Wyatt will relieve Captain Allen4, who will repair to New Orleans, and return by the first of March. Say to our friends that, by the rise of grass, we will be on the march.- Sam Houston.
