I have a particul<u· necessity in a matter of much personal interest, for a copy of the Journals of the Genl Convention that met the 1st of :March 1836 at Washington to frame a Declaration of Independence and make a Constitution- If there is a spare copy in the State de- partment I [t] will be of advantage to me (there was a no. printed at the Telegraph office in 1836 at Columbia) in the printed Copies the proceedings of the Hth. 15. 16 & 17th irarch are omitted through accident- I wish a printed copy with a transcript from the Files of the department of the procee<lin [g]s including the 14th :March to the close of the Convention- The secretary of State at your suggestion will kindly attend to this for me and forward them by the first op- portunity- Should there be no printed copy in the State department- a copy of the proceedings from the 14th. }Jareb may possibly answer.
