LAMAR president of the Republic of Texas Sm: At a meeting of the Citizens of San Antonio, held last evening_. for the purpose of testifyin~ our regard for the visit paid by your exel- lency to this place, We the undersigned were appointed a Committee to wait upon your exelleucy and to tender to you such entertainment as our City may afford. And at the same time to request the pleasure of your company at a ball to be given in .honor of your arrival, Should your exellency think proper to accept of this mark of our esteem, you would please name when it will be convenient for you to honor us with your p[r]esence, and our motions shall be regulated accordingly. TEMPLE DOSWELL TO LAMAR Galveston May 19. 1841 General LAM.:\R DEAR Sm ) ) Annexed you will find a statement of money paid' to recover your lot., sold for the execution vs Evans, Huntington and yourself-and also a Copy of the receipt I have taken from Mr John B Jones, attorney for the plaintiff in the Suit, and the purchaser of the lot at the sale- He tells me that no record, of the sale has been made, as he purchased the lot, believing that you would pay the debt and take it back, and there- fore, there is no title necessary to be made by him to you as it stands still in your name as it did before. By the annexed statement you will percieve, that the amt of par money is sixty three 00/000 Dollars ($63.00), which sum I obtained from Col Love and gave to him a receipt for, on your account.- The amount of Texas money paid is one thousand & fifty three 17/100 ($1053.17-the amount I recd was Eleven hundred Dollars 43 -which still lea,·es a balance clue you of fortv six 83/100 Dollars-Texas money-which sum I offered to pay to Col .Love, who told me to keep it, and advise you that it was subject to your order on me- Respectfully Yr l\fo obt St .
