Hon. 1\1 B LAirAR In 1832-3, I was in the Office of Van Ness & Bethune in Columbus Ga. at which time had the pleasure of forming a personal acquaintance with you Presuming upon that acquaintanceship, I take the liberty of addressing you in behalf of my young friend R Henderson, Esq of this place, whose desire is, to become a citizen of the new and interest- ing country over which you preside as Executive; pro,•ided he can make such arrangements between New Orleans & Texas business men, as will enable him to do a justifiable business in his profession of the law From my acquaintance with :Mr Henderson, I take pleasure in saying that he is a young man of legal attainments, moral worth, and other- wise entitled to public confidence. He wishes through you, to be in- troduced to the merchants of your city, and should he receive such en- couragement as he desires, and shortly makes a location in your coun- try, to receive such friendship at your hands as you may be pleased to- bestow. You will perhaps have heard of the elections in this country that have recently taken place before this reaches you. It is thought that Van Buren will not get over four states Georgia & Ten give Harrison overwhelming majorities I am editing a paper in this place and should you ever have any public documents you wish to be seen by your old countrymen I will be pleased to receive them and lay them before my readers.
