sible, as the second year has nearly elapsed since the death of Col. Handy. I have it from hearsay and have understood from you when la~t I saw you at our house in Richmond, that you were interested with the late Col. Handy in the half League of Land which he bought of John Strode, and likewise that you had a claim against Col. Handy ~s well as the late Firm of Handy & Lusk, The Deed to said Land is made exclusively to Col. Handy and I have no writing of any Kind whatever to establish the facts of your being interested in the same, to the satisfaction of the probate Court. So it is with any claim or account that you may have against the Succession of R. E. H. or Firm of H. & L. Such claims must all be brought in distinct and seperate, as well as properly authenticated, for without such an ex- hibition the Court or probate Judge would not allow any such claims; I was very desirous to see you when you were here some time ago, to converse with you on the subject, in order to make a final settlement, but was yet too unwell to call on you, having had a m·ere spell of sickness. It is now upwards of Eighteen months that I first published notice to the Creditors to bring in their accounts, and all those who do not hand in their accounts properly authenticated within a short time, may expect to be barred according to Law. I requested you to hand in your account against the Succession properly authenticated, as I have no evidence whatever to show the existence of your claim, and I would therefore once more request you to forward to me by next mail such account as you may have against the Succession and Firm, as likewise a copy or certificate of the Bond or articles between yourself and Col. Handy, relative to the Strode Land. I shall petition the Court for a sale of Lands belonging to the Succession of R. E. Handy, and shall offer said Land among the rest at the Day of Sale. Please let me hear from you without delay I remain very respectfully Your obt Sevt. JNO LEVERING [Addressed:] His Excy. Genl. M. B.
