Velasco June 15th /40.

His Exe. M. B. LAMAR.

DEAR Sm: Haveing understood that you intended to visit Velasco while in the lower Country, we have been in anxious waiting to see you. We have expected to see or hear from you every stage for the last week, which account for my not waiting upon you in person at Galveston before this; and which I will still do myself the honour unless the return stage of today brings you over. I must insist, Dear Genl. for myself and neighbours, that you do not return to Austin, without visiting us- We have a right to expect it, yea, claim it of you. I hope therefore you will come over and make my house your home as long as you can spare with us. I learn from Mr. Pease, that he was anxious to resign the office of district attorney in favour of H. P. Bruster, whose appointment I think would meet with entire approbation. Mr. B. has done no small good lately to the administration party by his conduct of the Brazoria press; and has most effectually killed -off Dr. Anson's Vice Presidential aspera- tions, with other good things. I cheerfully add my recommendation to his receiveing the office. I am very Respectfully Your Obt. hme. Sert. THOS. J. GREEN. No. 1822. R. D.
