I have now in Course of preparation a model of a mill for which I have long since obtained a patent in the United States and one which will be very useful in your Country as it obviates the necessity of having Dams- As I am fearful that some person may attempt to obtain a patent for the same from your government I ha,·e taken the Liberty to address you The mill is constructed to saw or Grind I expect to be with the model in your City before long & hope to secure your favour for the invention as I hope to obtain from your go,·ern- ment a patent for the same I have 110w in this place a mill of this Construction in full operation and has been pronounced by men· of science to be just such a one as is wanting in many parts of the Coun- try where it would not be expedient to build Damms- With sentiments of high respect I um 8ir yours very respectfully JNO.
