l\Iy last conversation with JucTge Waller-previous to his departure,. in reference to my attending to the sale of Austin Lots--was, that I should have the sale-so far as he was concerned-,vhich was agreed upon by him in Presence of the Honbles L.P. Cooke and Campbell and concluded by remarking that it would require your Excellencys sanction-therefore I take the liberty of most respectfully soliciting your sanction, as well as influence-upon receipt of which, I will re- pair immediately to austin-and prepare for the sale. I would have- called in person-but wish not to disturb your quiet-knowing that you have not entirely recovered from your late indiRposition. So you think it would be politic for me to establish at this time a Commercial and Political Paper upon the Island, and if so would our- Friends at Houston aid in sustainihg the enterprise, as regards my own services I am fully disposed to proffer them gratuitously, and will likewise contribute the use of my Printing Press and materials.. The opposition Party have not scrupled in the institution of similar establish[mentsl at such points throughout the county· as best [ac- cor] <led with their views. The object of which is evidently [to enl able• them to act in concert when a similtanious [move] ment is required for the accomplishment of their [endsl or when the interests of themselves or friends require [the] propigation of any particular fnct from vari- ous [poin]ts at the same time.
