Permit me to inform Your Excellency that the Hon Secretary of the Treasury has promissed to give me leave of absence for some length of time, which I hope will meet your approbation. My Contemplated route is to visit Brazoria, Velasco, Matagorda & Austin, and hope to be able to spend some time at the Sulpher springs before my return. Could I render any services to you individually, or to the Republic. in my travels, it will afford me much pleasure to do so- Mr. W H Johnston, will act as Treasurer in my absence, he is well acquainted with the Books of the Office and will be able to answer you any enquires relative to the situation of my Bureau, In the mean time please accept of the renewed assurances of my high considerations and Respect. with a hope that Your health may soon be Restored, I Remain Your obt Servent A.
