Having learned from Mr Polite who is now here from your Republic that your Government is about to commence the erection of Govern- ment Buildings at Austin the proposed new Capitol, I feel very de- sirous of becoming a Citizen of your republic and therefore take this liberty of offering my Services as architect and Builder to your Gov- ernment and beg that you will use your interest to this effect, which I shall always remember with gratitude any arra[n]gement you may effect with l\fr Polite to that Effect I shall be glad to hear of as Speedy as possible a reply to this wm be thank-fully received by your very obt Servt DENIS E HAYDEN [Addressed:] To His Excellency Mirabeau B. I knew you the time you lived in Eatonton Georgia I have seen you frequently at C B Strongs. I have had it in con- templation some time t9 write you a few lines by way of Epistolary Correspondence and am sorry I have nothing interesting to communicate that ,vould prove interesting to you I could myself Establish a small colony in Texas. I could get a number of families to go; This I have in contemplation if I could make the necessary arrangements for myself after I got there in finding a suitable situation or any respec- table Employment that I could make money If you think I could be any service to Texas in any manner you can respond to this when you read it.
