I write in haste & omit many things had to notice but cannot at pres- ent, having decided to return with E who is now sick here, & heard of a secure opportunity for sending letters to N Orleans. Previous to my departure from Houston for this place I took the liberty of addressing your Excellency in regard to my application filed in the War Office for an Appointment in the Regular Army now levy- ing [ ?] destined for the frontier protection- )ly application was one of the first tendered aml as I have served (and may add without flattery) faithfully & honorably as a Captain in the Vol. Infantry sen-ice and in the Reg Ca,·alry under Col Seguin I trust that I shall not be neglected in ihe appointment of Offices Your Excellenc_,. will please excuse me for making this second ap- peal- I would not do so but am fearfull that my first address was not deli,·ered you by the indi\'idnal to whom it was intrusted With much r<'spects I am your Excellencys 2\lost obt Svt Tm~.MAS PRATT, P.
