DEAR GENL. I have been much delayed in my departure for Bexar on account of unforeseen Buisiness- I shall leave here tomorrow for Bexar and shall Return to l\latagorda about the 15th of October- and to Houston early in the Session of Congrâ—„s- I suppose all oposition to yom; Election to be now silenced and of course your Election shure-- The Probabilities in this County and District are in favour of Holmes for the Lower House and the Struggle is between Kendrick and Suther- land for the Senate. I Recd several urgent solicitations to Run for the Senate But Having declined an early Nomination and several Candidates (Friends of mine) having been Brought out since I have declined becoming a. candidate. The object of this Letter is to say to you that taking your Election for Granted I solicit such appointment as you may think suited to your wishes, and my Capacity. :My Buisiness engagements will admit of attention to public duties after October and I would be pleased to Receive a _Communication from you on this subject. If other Persons are prrsented more suited to the discharge of the Duties I shall cer- tainly Acquiesce in your choice and you may be assured that the exer- cise of your priviledge in a choice shall not in the Least Interpose in the existing friendship I am Very Respectfully R.
