I am requested by Capt Seymour of the :Macon Volunteers & Captn. Eckley of the Bibb Cavalry, to ask you to inform me by e:i;press mail, when you leave Columbus for this place, and state whet.her you will come in the Poeples Line, the Telegraph line, or the ?\fail line of Stages- The Citizens here are desirou~ of testifying their respect for you, by a public expression. It is their wish that you should stop four miles from Town at Baileys (Bullocks Mill place) where the Cavalry will be in waiting for you- the Infantry will meet you near the City- & escort you in. The Committee of arrangements will meet you at Baileys. Now let me ask you not to allow any false delicacy to prevent you from accepting, from citizens of your own State & at your own home a public military & civic reception.- It was this place that furnished the Georgia Battallion-nearly all who composed it have friends here, and many have Fathers & :Mothers & Sisters & Brothers- Do not fail to write me- Yours JOHN T.
