Trusting you will pardon my presumption in thus troubling you, fow1ded upon uo other claim, than a presentiment that your Excel- lency's well known goodness if exerted in my behalf would greatly benefit me, my term of Service is about expiring my intentions are to repair to l\fobile or New Orleans to provide myself with chain, compass &c-for the purpose of land Surveying for which I flatter myself I am perfectly competent.
