Col. W. D. C. Hall['s] Sep 24th. 1836
MY DEAR Srn
I find upon further conversation with Col. Hall, since I left you at Brazoria, that I had been entirely mistaken as to the amount of lands included in your proposed sale:- I had understood Col. H. to say that it was seventy leagues I now find that it is seventy thousand acres- I therefore embrace the first opportunity to inform you that you may consider my proposition as withdrawn, in order that no in- convenience may be occasioned to you by considering me as still anxious to purchase. Very Respectfully Your Obt St. F. A. SAWYER fAddressed:] To Major Genl. l\L B. Lamar Brazoria Col. Jack [Endorsed :J F. A. Sawyer Septr 1836 No. 450. R. BACHE TO L.A~fAR My DEAR Sm: I have an inclination to put in my name for Clerk or Secretary of the Lower House of Congress and would request a line from you, should you feel free in giving it, as a general recommendation to that body. I should have called personally but my time is totally occupied unt·il 12 at night in finishing the Journal of the last Council, whicl~ I found in a crude state. Should you wish to call upon me at any time, for any service, rest assured I will resign, to be associated with you in any situation. Yrs truly
