An Ordinance /or appointing a Treasurer to the Provi- sional Govcnmient of Te~:as, a Sec, etaryto the Executive, and two Chief Clerks, de.fining tlieir se1.:eral duties, &c. SEC. 1. Be it ordained and decreed, and it is hereby or- dained and decreed, by the General Council of the Provisional Gui·crnment of Texas, That there shall be appointed one Treas- uer to the Provisional Government of Texas, who shall give bond and security to the Governor of the Provisional Gov- ernment nnd his successors in office, in the sum of one hun- dred thousand dollars for the true and faithful performance of the several duties of his office as hereinafter specified, or which may hereafter be required of him by the General Coun- cil. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to receive, disburse and pay over to the order of the proper authority, all monies and securities belonging to the Provisional Government of Texas. It shall be his duty to keep a book, wherein shall be en- tered, in a fair and legible hand writing, all the monies or securities received, and from whom received, and give tripli- cate receipts for the same; a duplicate of which shall be filed in the office of the :mid Treasurer,and the triplicate filed in the office of the Executive: also, it shall be his duty to have an- other book, to be kept in like manner, wherein _he shall make a full entrv of all disbursements or momes paid out, taking duplicate receipts therefor, one of which, with the order upon which he shall pay over the ruoney, he shall keep and file in his office, and deliver the other to be filed in the office of the Executive. All de- mands upon the Treasurer shall be upon the order of the
