ARTICLE I. There shnll be a Regular Army created for the protection of Texns during the present war. ARTICLE II, The Regular Army of Texas shall consist of one Major- Genernl, who shall be Commander-in-Chief of all the forceB called into public service during the war. ARTICLE m. The Commander-in-Chief of the Regular Ar.my of Texas shnll be appointed by the Convention, and commissioned by the Governor. ARTICLE IV. He shall be subject to the orders of the Governor and Coun- cil. ARTICLE V, IDs Staff shall consist of one Adjutant-General, one In- spector-General, one Quarter-Master-Genernl, one Pay-Master- General, one Surgeon-General, and four Aids-de-Camp with their respective rnnks, as in tne United States Army in time of war, to be nppbinted by the Major-General and commis- sioned by the Governor. ARTICLE VI, The regular Anny of Te~as shall consist of men enlisted for two yenrs, and volunteers for nnd during the continuance of war. ARTICLE Vll, The·reunlnr Army of Texns, while in the service, shall be governed\y the rules, regulations nnd discipline, in all re- spects applicable to the regular Army of the United StatE>:3 of America, in time of wnr, so far ns applicable to our condi- tion and circumstances. ARTICLE Vlll, The regular Army of Texas shall consist of eleven hundred and twenty men rank and file.
