My Dear Genl
I arrived here yesterday in company with Genl. F. Huston, and was much rejoiced lo hear of your recovery by a party just from the Army. We are well and I have to apologize for Gen. Hustons stay, when we arrived in l\'latagorda bay it was deemed best upon consullation for Gen. H. & Colo. Bee to go on to the seat of government to unite their influence in procuring Lhe necessaries for the army-since which time iL is thought best for Gen. H. to stay until the meeting of Congress so he can be fuUy informed of every thing necessary for you lo know. I send you herewith Burnet's fourth boone card a baslard it is-He will from what I can see try to cut the rug upon you about the old pencil thanks. I advise you to be on the alert, he boasts largely of his proofs. This place has already become crowded and should you visit us during the session I will provide for you at my quarters, Colo. Bee & Colo. Wharton will be up tomorrow. I am proud to see this War department conducted in a manner highly energetic and praiseworthy since Colo. Wharton has been in it. Whether the old administration will continue longer than congress meets or the new will go in before the first Deer is not yet settled, for myself, since Burnet has written fourth disgrace I am kicking his back side over the Sabine. Every sensible man must acknowledge it a national disgrace. Genl. Thos. J. Rusk Headquarters '.}'exas Army Labacca Your devoted friend & obt sert Thos. J. Green Brig. Genl.
