We shall do all in our power to assist Messrs Ferguson, Gray, Burback, and others in accomplishing the objects they have in view in visiting the U. States. Produce is now very high, Flour $10 per Bbl. Pork $22 c 24$-as we furnished Volunteers or many of them with Rifles, muskets, Knives, &c-We presume they will hand them over lo the Govt when they present themselves, for pay for services, when discharged.-We are Sir Vy Respectfolly Your obl Servants Thos Toby & Bro. Capt. John Damon who has charge of the Steam boat Cayuga belonging to this Govt. goes to New Orleans to procure some necessaries for the repairing of that Boat- I enclose you list of the Articles required which you will please have filled for him and you will be good enough to provide him cash enough to make up the whole amount to seven hundred dollars he Meeting of Congress is at hand and I am desirous of being able very shortly to render to them a full exhibit of the doing of the Government while under my charge-you will therefore be pleased to transmit to me as early as practicable a minute account of Scrip sold and of the disbursements of the proceeds of sales and al.so of all matters connected with you Agency
