To His Excellency James W Robinson Acting Governor

The advisory committee appointed lo act in the absence of a quorum of the General Council, having examined the application of Thomas Jefferson Chambers Esq of Date of January 10th last, soliciting some improvement and additions to the decree of the General Council of the 7th day of January 1836 authorizing Lhe said Chambers lo raise a volunteer "Army of Reserve for the protection of the liberties of Texas" and being satisfied from the showing he has presented to us, that some additions should be made to said decree before named, your committee deem it expedient lo advise and they do advise your Excellency to authorize the said Thomas Jefferson Chambers lo appoint in the staff of his division as before authorized in addition to the members of the staff heretofore raised, one Brigade Surgeon and four assistant surgeons, to be regulated by the same rules and laws as all other officers of said Division. That they be commissioned as other officers of said corps-

Cook I have never seen-I had determined lo resign my commission as Collector on acct of the difficulty of doing the business to my satisfaction this difficulty l have surmounted and would be glad to retain the office-if the new Government should retain me my power of attorney lo sign the names of my securities to any amount is filed in the Executive office C. B Stewart can give You all the information on thal point. I wish You would act for me, as if I was personally present as it is impossible for me to gel up on account of Lhe badness of the roads and Lhe utter impossibility of getting a horse-
