To Captain John H. Dyer
Sir you are authorized to proceed to Red River and raise a company of men for the service of Texas to serve for six months from the time of entry and actual services as soon as you have them around you ,viii report to me the number &c sending a discription roll & copy of the enrollment and hold them subject to he ordered out by the President or Commanding Genl of the Army.

Sir,
Not considering my services useful as Vice President ad interim of Texas, on account of the bad state of my health now, when the most important questions are to be under discussion in that Honie. Body, I have the honor to tender my resignation of the office of Vice President of the Republic.
