data which in years to come will be of great interest and importance for the continued story of the Texas Knights of Columbus. The FitzSimon Collection contains not only rare Texas items dealing with the history of early Texas, but includes now much documentary information on the period of the Church following the secularization of the missions, and the coming to Texas of missionaries from abroad, prin- cipally the country of France. His Excellency, Bishop FitzSimon, has made several visits to France to collect authentic information concerning the early French missionaries who labored in Texas during the last half of the past century. The Texas Knights of Columbus, with their intense desire to colect all available material on the history of the Church, have provided Bishop FitzSimon with an annual donation to help in his research labors. It will be no exaggeration to state even at the cost of repetition, that when the history of the Catholic Church in the United States will be written in later years, the Texas Knights of Columbus will be well credited in having so effectively collected the records of past years.
