operating rooms. The institution is equipped throughout with the best modem conveniences to facilitate the treatment of all patients. On its staff are included all the leading physicians in Brenham and the surrounding communities, who unhesitatingly make use of the splendid facilities of St. Francis Hospital for the benefit of their patients. In 1941, the Sisters of St. Francis, in keeping with their rule to give comfort and aid to the poor and the sick. founded the Little Flower Convalescent Home in Brenham. St. Joseplt's Hospital, Bryan, 1935. The Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, took over St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan, Texas on a lease basis in 1935. Three Sisters took charge of the work and have since successfully enlarged and modernized the hospital. Mercy Hospital, liberty, 1935. The same year they took over St. Joseph's at Bryan, the Sisters opened a hospital in Liberty, Texas, where there was great need for their services and where they have identified themselves with the rapidly growing community. Reft1gio County Hospi,tal, Refugio, 1940. This is the latest hospital accepted by the Sisters of St. Francis in their tireless efforts to help the sick and the poor. Besides the five institutions mentioned, conducted by the Sisters of St. Francis of Texas, the American Community of Sylvania, Ohio, founded in 1916 with 23 Sisters, had in 1951 a membership of 360 Professed Sisters, 20 Novices and 35 Postulants.6' H ospi,tals of the Sisters of tlie Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, 1924. The first to be administered by this Community was Renger's Hospital in Hallettsville, Texas. Dr. Paul Renger, who established the hospital in 1918, requested the Sisters in September, 1924, to take charge of the work. Since their acceptance, the hospital has been enlarged con- siderably and the operating room, delivery room, the X-ray division and laboratory department equipped with every modem facility. The second in point of time was The Huth Memorial Hospital in Yoakum, originally built in 1921 with funds bequeathed to the city by John Huth and other contributions. It was first placed in charge of lay management and c-ontinued thus until 19:n. when the city officials invited the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament to assume control of the nursing- and management. Since June 12. 1q33 the Huth Memorial Hospital has heen under the care of the Sisters, who have completely renovated it and supplied it with modern equipment. The
