served likewise as Rector and professor until his consecration. Among c,thers who have given of their time and energy to help form a native clergy, the following may be mentioned: The Most Reverend Laurence J. FitzSimon, Bishop of Amarillo, was professor from 1920 to 1925. The Right Reverend Patrick J. Geehan, P.A., V.G., holds the record for over twenty-six years of service as Prefect of Studies, Vice-Rector, Rector, and Professor. The late Reverend V. A. Sullivan was a teacher for twenty-one years, from 1920 to 1941. The Right Reverend A. J. Morkovsky, Dean of Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville, served in various capacities for seventeen years, from 1924 to 1941. The Reverend M. J. Gilbert, Pastor of St. Peter's, Prince of the Apostles Church in Alamo Heights, likewise served seventeen years in various capacities, from 1926 to 1933. The Reverend Leo V. Murphy, S.S.J., was Professor of Moral Theology for eleven years, from 1930 to 1941. Oblate Fathers taught Sacred Scripture for eight years, from 1928 to 1936. 65 The Vincentian Fathers took charge of the Seminary in r94r. Under their direction it has continued to grow and develop. The staff in 1950 consisted of Very Reverend James Walsh Stakelum, C.M.; Reverend Peter B. Frommel, C.M., Vice-Rector and Treasurer; Reverends Daniel W. Martin, C.M. (Director of Studies); Thomas A. Kavanaugh, C.M.. Raymond F. O'Brien, C.M., Lee B. Zimmerman, C.M., Francis Ger- movnik, C.M., William J. Winklemann, C.M., Owen J. Quigley, C.M. (Spir. Dir.), Patrick O'Brien, C.M., Edward F. Riley, C.M., Edward F. Danagher, C.M., Thomas J. Meik, C.M., Carl G. Schulte, C.M. (Dean of Discipline). 66 During its entire existence, the Domestic Department of the Seminary has been in the hands of the Josephine Sisters of l\'lexico City. Fully appreciative of their faithful and devoted service through the years, a historian of the Seminary has said of them, "it would be difficult to find a more devoted or hard working group of Sisters." 67
