LAMAR, [WASHINGTON, TEXASl1• Defeat of Parkers Fort on the 19th. of may 1836, a boddy of some 700 Indians. under a white flag. deluded. and succeded in destroying the inmates of Parkers Fort, situated on the Sterling fork of Navisott.. Elder John Parker a Revolutionary Soldier of the U. S. army. Benjamin Parker and Silas M Parker. Samuel Frost and Robert B Frost was killd. Sarah Parker badly wounded. Elizabeth Kellog. (widow) Rachel Plumner. and hP.r infant child James Prat. Sinthy Ann & John Parker. children of Silas M Parker was taken Prisner, and caried away- James W Parker conducted a company of Eighteen persons. principally. barefooted wemon [sic] and children six days and nites through the woods, with nothing to eat but three skunks (polecats). all those that was taken Prisner has since been reclamed but Sinthy Ann Parker. Mrs. Kel- logg by the Delaware Indians, Mrs. Plummer by William Donoho. who brot her to Santa Fee. from that to Independence in Missoury. from that to her Frather James W Parker in Texas; John Parker and James Pratt Plummer. though [sic] the agencey of Genl. Taylor. Comr. of the Western division of the US. Troops. who was brot to Fot Gibson, and by James W. Parker to Texas. only Sinthy ann re- mains in captivity. Jas. W Parker publishd and offerd a reward of $200 each for the Prisners. in order to try to inlist the energy of the Traders to reach his friends. he also afterwards offerd an aditional reward of $300 each for any prisner that might be brot in by the traders; this was the moving cause that brot in his daughter. Mrs. Plummer, Mrs. Harris. and Mrs. Horn. by Mr. Donoho. he (Parker) persud [sic] his .Daughter and friends with energy Tell his helth be- came so bad, he could ·go no further Mrs. Plummer wrote a Short Sketch of her travels and had it pub- lishd. afterwards wrote a lenthv detail of her travels. a General dis- cription of the country. natural curiositys. animals, birds, mines. maners modes and customs of the indians, which is yet in manuscript. but will be publishd. together with the travels and particular incidents her father met with in the first two years of his persuits. after hie frends. with his General discription of the frontier country of Tens. Land, water, timber, game, minerals, &c.
