Capt. Daniels under an order from Genl. Baker, then Brigadier of the 2nd. Brigade, started with the Milam guards of Houston, with instructions to join Genl. Rusk, then in pursuit of the Indians- this 16 Novr. 1838- He went to Nacogdoches for that purpose, where he was overtaken by an express, ording [sic] him to the falls of the Brazos, where he ar- rived about latter part of Novr. was employed in scouring the Coun- try - He returnd to Houston about the 25th Deer. by order of Genl. Baker- Capt. Daniels on arriving at the Falls, met Majr. Bonnell there with 50 men; he joined him at night, havig [ sic l travelled 45 miles that day- The 50 men at the Falls was commanded by Capt. Briscoe- Bonnell was the Major commandig [sic] the two companies- In consequence of some murders which had been committed in the neighborhood of the Falls Capt. Daniels was ordered back to that place, the day after his arrival in Houston- The intelligen [sic] of the murder of Morgan's family, reached the war Dept. one eving [sic] & Daniels was ordered back the next morning- He returned with the Milam Guards to the Falls, just as the citizens were moving to the settlemts with their familis [sic] - The Settlemt had been
