In a short time 6 or 7 hundred troops from Bexar arrived in San:fillippe, .Austin was very low at the momt, expecting every day to die - He advised them to go on - and ordered out the militia on the Brazos to join them, - The Americans were ·commanded by Laurance Richd. Kenny - The .Americans marched on to Nacogdoches; had some difficulty with the Revolutionists - dispersed them, and were on their return home, when they met the Mexican .Army at the Trin- ity, slowly progressing towards Nacogdoches - they went on to that . place, but the difficulty was settled - These troops were [ g]arr[i]son [es]tablished [at] la [Bahia?] of then the commandant of the place in 1825.) . Laurence Richd. Kenny was in Matamoras and meetfog there Busta- mente, and applied to him for the payment for his men for three months service - They had been ordered out by .Austin, under promise that they should be paid; but when Kenny applied to Busta.mnte, he was told by .that officer that he had better keep dark on that subject; that the Mexican Govt. were watching the .Americans with a jealous eye. Kenney ascertained that the the [sic] Mexican Govt. 65 been informed that it was the mexican troops which had quelled the Freedonians; & that the .Americans had no hand in it when in: fact the very reverse was the truth -
