I should have written to you when you were last in the Country, but could not ascertain your whereabouts untill I recd. your letter informing me that you were then on the eve of returning to the U. States. Besides, I was daily ex- pecting to see you here, & was much disappointed when I found you were not comin~ up. Upon the main subject of your letter, I have but one answer
