I . . . Until further orders the District of the upper Rio Grande will be included in the one now commanded by Col. Daven- port.- the whole to be known as the District of the Rio Grande. II . . . Company "K" 4th Artillery (Captain Hunts) - Company "E" 1st. Artillery (Captain Prentiss) upon their. arrival at Fort Brown, will take Post, and together with Company "E" (Cap- tain Merchants,) will constitute the Garrison of that place. The re- maining Companies of Artillery stationed at or near Monterey, namely, Company "C" (Bret. Major Websters)- Company "E" Bret, M11jor Shermans) will take post at Fort Polk. (Point Isabel) III . . . The Chief of the quarter masters Department of the Army of Occupation, il'l charged with the duty of selecting a sufficient number of the best horsel'l, Mules, and wagons, which the · Department affords, for the Troops to be permanently stationed upon this frontier. IV . . . Lieut Helm 16th; Infantry having resei1med his staff Appointment Lieut: Tatlen 2nd. Art'y: is hereby appointed Aid- de-Camp to the Commanding General. V . . . Lieut. James H. Howard of the 10th Infantry, Commanding at Fort Brown. will he relieved from duty at that place and ordered to join his Regiment. Colonel Davenport will ai;:sign an officer of the Artillery to the command of the Garrison and post of Fort Brown. until one of the companies previo\lsly designated for that place shall have arrived
