Gentlemen

I have been informed that you are about to despatch a carrier to the in_terior of Mexico for the purpose of invok- ing the aid of the public authorities, to reestablish the mexican law~ in the County of Webb; and as such a purpose is directly at war with the constitutional ri~hts of Texas, I must require of you to submit your communications to my irn,pection : and aJso to let me know when your carrier starts in order that I mav write bv him at the same time. I regret exceedinQ' your hostile manifestations to the laws of the United . States and of Texas, and ;;incerely hope you may not he the menps of Jeading the good people of this county into any trouble. - If left to themselves, I believe they are not inclined to insubordinacion.
