This accelerated their retreat; in the dis- order and confusion of which, he embraced an opportunity to mnke his escape. He says that the Lipans had 40 or more Mexican prison- ers- That other towns of the Lipans besides that to which he be- longed, had also great many Mexican prisoners, chiefly young persons, but that they were kindly treated, and not used as they formerly were with cruelty. He also states that some short time before the above battle occurred, that tidings had reached them, that that [sic] an action had taken place between the Lipans and the Spanish troops on the Guada- lupe, in which the former suffered much; In this battle were two American traders, one of whom was killed in the assault, the other making his escape with the loss of two fingers - [Endorsed] 85 Lepans killed
