144 TEXAS S:u 'fE LIBRARY Surgeon Parker of the volunteer service is assigned to your command and will give medical attendance to your officers and men. It is intended that such supplies .as must be drawn from a depot, shall be furnished you from Camargo, or the nearest depot, on the Rio Grande. The Quartermaster's Department will furnish the necessary transportation for such supplies and they will be escorted by detachments of your command. But it is important that the Company should be supplied as far as possible, by purchase in the neighborhood of your station. Com and beef, and perhaps other articles may be procured in this way. For the purpose of making such purchases, the necessary funds will be furnished your Commissary and Quarter mas- ter- the expenditure of which will be under your exclusive control, and the accounts subject, at all times to your supervision all receipts for money paid out shall be taken in duplicate. The Commanding General desires you to report from time to time, as opportunities may offer, on the state of th\! frontier, situation of your command and other matters of interest. Will you please cause General Wool to ·be furnished by the first convenient opportunity a copy of these instructions.
