No. 2295. LAMAR TO THOMAS l\I. LIKENS

Laredo Garrison Texas December 24th 1846.

Lieut. THos. l\I. LIKINS Sm

Your letter of Resignation is received, and I feel it my duty, under all the circumstances, to accept it. I had hoped, from your note of the 19th inst. that you would have been able, previous to your retire- ment, to have laid before me such Monthly Returns of your depart- ment as would have secured my approval; but as this however cannot be effected I will not allow omission to defeat your wishes. Capt. Lincoln, to whom you have applied for a Court of Enquiry, shall be duly apprised of your release from arrest, and that your resignation has been accepted by me. Your Obt. Servt. lllIRABEAu B. LAMAR Capt. Commanding Laredo Grds [Endorsed:] To Lieut. Likins accepting his Resignation

LAMAR Capt. Commanding at Laredo.
