One very interesting thing about this document is the fact that General Edwin Morehouse signs his name "H. E. Morehouse." Nowhere else has the name ever been found other than simply Edwin Morehouse. It is certain that the com- missioner who signed this bill and General Edwin Morehouse are one and the same man, because on September 23, 1844 (see above), Houston, in writing to the Indian commissioners said, "Gen Morehouse has been appointed one of the commissioners; and will be at his post as soon as he can."
