To HENRY CLAY 1

Washington, 9th Dec. 1825.

To Hon. H. Clay, Secretary of State Sir I have the honor to inclose a letter from Messrs. Has- kill & Brown of Knoxville, Tennessee, relative to publishing the laws of U. States. They are gentlemen on whom perfect reliance may be placed. In the performance of their duty as publishers of the laws here- tofore not the slighest complaint exists within my knowledge. If reference should be deemed necessary, I will thank you to let me know the fact, and an assurance from the delegation of Ten- nessee in their behalf will be obtained. Will you be so good as to let me know, when the appointment will be made, if it has not been already made, and if it has, who has been appointed!
