You are authorized to select six good Mexican guides to be regularly enrolled in your company with pay not to exceed that of privates. You are authorized to procure a blacksmith with suitable tools and muster him into your company as a private, with such extra compensation as is allowed by the regulations of the United States army. Executive Department, January 21, 1860. Gentlemen of the Senate and of the House of Representatives: In obedience to the resolution of the House passed January 16th, I herewith transmit to you the report of the Comptroller showing the amount of the appropriation of $5,000 made for the purpose of removing the Coshattee Indians yet on hand as also the amount drawn by James Barclay, the removing agent, which last payment you will observe was made December the 15th, 1859. The enclosed papers will give you all the information I have in my possession.
