River Brazos, above the line as designated by law, as the bound- ary between the Indians and Whites, and there open aiid carry on trade and commerce in goods, wares & merchandize, not pro- hibited by law, with all Indians who may resort thereto for the purpose of traffic; they the said Torrey & Brothers having given bond & security for the faithful and legal conduct of said trade under the laws of the land and the instructions of the Executive. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix the Great Seal of the Republic. Done at Washington, the 1st day of December in the year 1843. Sam Houston W. D.
