THE PASSPORT OF DR. DANIEL JOSEPH CARROLL, ISSUED ON JANUARY 26, 1843 1 Republic of Texas To All to Whom these Presents shall come-Greeting: Know ye that the bearer hereof Dr. Dan 1 Joseph Carroll one of the Company under contracts with the Govt. of the Republic, for the introduction and settlement of emigrants upon the tract of Country comprehended in the original limits of the said Dr. Dani. Joseph Carroll, and others, under the provisions of an act of the Congress of the Republic, approved 16th January, 1843; and, with S. Converse, a Commissioner of emigration and agent of said Company, is desirous of travelling abroad, beyond the limits of the Republic aforesaid: These are, therefore, to request all whom it may concern to permit him the said Dr. Daniel Joseph Carroll to pass freely and without molestation, and to extend to him all such friendly aid & protection as would in like cases be extended to citizens of foreign countries resorting to the Republic of Texas. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my name, and caused the Great Seal of the Republic to be affixed. Done at Washington, the 26th day of January in the year 1843, & of the Independence of the Republic the seventh. By the President Sam Houston Acting Secretary of State
