DALRYMPLE 1 Executive Department, Austin, April 16, 1860. Captain W. C. Dalrymple, Sir: You will receive by Express from Captain Smith, 2 informa- tion of an intended foray upon· our settlements. You will be on the alert and be ready to repel the enemy. Captain Burleson 3 is ordered to join you at your camp. When you will concert measures for future operations. Should your commands be deemed neces- sary to the success of Colonel Johnson's" expedition you will be subject to his order. Otherwise in connection with Captain Burle- son, you will make a campaign as may be necessary. You will leave information at your camp at what point Captain Burleson can meet you, or can send the same to Fort Belknap to meet Captain Burleson on or about the 26th inst.
