convicts and you wish to know if any more can be drawn from the Treasury. Replying I would say that no more money can be drawn from the Treasury for that purpose. Fifteen Thousand Dollars only was appropriated for conveying convicts for the years 1860 & 1861. Half of that amount has already been drawn, and you will see from article 12th, page 471, Oldham & White's Digest, that no more can be drawn until after the first of Sep- tember next, the commencement of another fiscal year. Hon. A. K. Ramsey, Chief Justice of Bell County Sir: There being one company of minute men from your own County, and several others from other Counties ranging North and West between your County and the frontier, and Bell being regarded as an interior county, I can see no longer a necessity for a: detachment of minute men to be started in your County. You will therefore muster Lieutenant Davidson out of service upon receipt of this, receiving such Government arms as he may have in his possession, and receipting him for the same.
