You will also solicit information from parties testify- ing in relation to the number of persons killed by Indians in said County, since the 1st day of January, 1855-their names, ages, and the time they were killed, which you will enter upon a blank prepared for that purpose. · In receiving testimony you will alone direct your inquiries as to the time that the depredations were committed, kind and num- ber of stock, and the value of each kind, and the main facts showing that Indians committed the Same. You will then ascer- tain the Total and enter the same, when the party will be sworn. In making out your report, you will first make a report for each County in your District, containing the names of the parties testifying and the total amount of losses of each, also the num- ber of mules and horses lost by each person. You will also append to the same statement of th.e names and ages of persons killed and the time when killed. Blanks of this report will also be sent forward. After making your report for each County, you will make a general report, showing the total amount of losses, &c., in each County of your District. You will receive no statement as to losses prior to 1846. As it is important to know at as early period as possible the amount of the losses of our citizens, you will please prosecute the object of your commission with all pos- sible dispatch, and make your report at as early a period as is practicable. The company is to consist of one captain, three lieutenants, three corporals, three sergeants, and Sixty privates.
