Captain L. S. Ross Sir: In order to meet the present emergency, orders have been sent to Lieutenant James Barry/ of Brazos County, and to Lieu- tenant Thomas Stockton, of Young County, to raise each 25 men to cooperate with you in the defence of the Frontier. They have been ordered to report to you, at your Camp when you will give them such orders as may seem necessary to carry out the object of their being called into the field. You will issue rations to them; but will use great economy in reference to the stores, so as to avoid waste. A supply of Rations-
