Gentlemen: Upon the demand of Captain L. S. Ross, you will deliver to him ten good mules-his choice-and take his receipt for the same. Sam Houston.

Ross's company of Rangers into the service of the State; you will also receive the muster roll of the Captain Ross's late company, having the same sworn to before some Notary, or Chief Justice of the County. You will then proceed to Belknap and see that rations are dis- tributed to the different companies of Colonel Johnson's Regi- ment, sufficiently to take them to the places from whence they
