The letters are short and formal, for the most part, military orders concerning the organization of Ranger companies, movement of troops and supplies for them. These can be omitted without injury to the fullness of Houston's record. These omitted documents, however, have been listed below, including the names of the parties and location of the original documents. All these documents are in the Texas State Library; copies of them prepared for this work, are filed among other relative materials in the Archives of the Library of The University of Texas.•
