TO J. C. STAFFORD AND OTHERS 1 Executive Department, Austin, July 30, 1860.

Messrs. J. C. Stafford & Others. Gentlemen : Your letter of the 26th inst. is this moment to hand. Replying I would refer you to Chapters 47 and 146 General Laws, Session 1858, from which you will see what steps are pre- requisite to obtaining the arms you desire. It will also be necessary that you should file a correct muster roll with the County Clerk and forward a duplicate to the Executive Department. There are no percussion muskets on hand, you can get the flint musket, entirely new, by complying with the law. Sam Houston.
