If spared by Heaven, I will write to you by the Neptune, and will enclose my letters to be sent to you, if you should have left New Orleans. Dr. Jones,3 M. Castro/ & Mr. Kennedy 5 came last night and will return by the Neptune. She has not yet arrived. If Genl Hamilton° has not left New Orleans, be pleased to say to him, if he does not make a full report of his financial a.nd, diplomatic 'J)roceedings in relation to hi.~ 1nission so fa.r as ·it may affect Texas, both in the U. States & Europe, that I will have re- course to an alternative which he could have prevented by a proper course of conduct and the only one now left us to pursue. He may readily devine the course, ·which I will adopt! This he must do forthwith. He h~s promised from time to time, that he would report. He has not performed any promise made to the Executive, nor to members of the Cabinet. His appeal to the people 1 was in wretched bad taste! !! The letter which you left for me I truly thank you for. The principles, as well as the sentiments, avowed are such as would do honor to more aged heads and hearts. They are noble. Write to me when leisure will permit.
