December, 1838 ELECTION PROCLAMATION, DECEMBER 2, 1838 1

Whereas the seat of Representatives in the Congress of this Republic, for the County of Fayette, having been vacated by the resignation of the honorable Andrew Rabb - therefore, I, Sam Houston, President of the Republic of Texas, do hereby order and direct the Chief Justice of said County to cause an election . of a Representative to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resigna- tion aforesaid. In testimony whereof, I have caused the seal of the Republic of Texas to be hereunto affixed Done at the City of Houston this third day of December, A. A CERTIFICATION OF WYLY MARTIN'S SERVICES IN THE TEXAS ARMY 1 [ December 5, 1838] KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS ! That I SAM HOUSTON former MAJOR GENERAL of the Army of Texas, do hereby certify, that CAPTAIN WYLY MARTIN of Fort Bend County, was elected a Captn on the Seventh of March 1836, and remained in the Army until the fifteenth of May following. Said Captn Wyly Martin is hereby entitled to an HONORABLE DISCHARGE from the Service to take effect from the date last mentioned. Done at the City of Houston the fifth day of Dec. A. D. 1838.
