To the Honorable Congress Gentlemen:
I have the pleasure of laying before your Hon- orable Body for your consideration the resignation of Thomas Anderson as Medical Censor for the Senatorial district of Mina and Gonzales. A REQUISITION FOR THE CAPTURE AND DELIVERY OF JAMES HUMPHREY, APRIL 30, 1838 1 Republic of Texas, Sity of Houston. To His Excellency the Governor of the State of Louisiana: Whereas, a felonious homicide has been committed by one James Humphrey, upon the person of Joseph Powell~ in the County of Brazoria, in this Republic, for which offence the said James Humphrey has escaped from his imprisonment, and fled from this Republic, and is represented to be at large in the State of Louisiana Now, therefore, be it known that, I, Sam Houston, President of the Republic of Texas, in the name and by the authority of the same, do, by these presents solicit and make requisition of you as Governor of the said State to authorize the above named James Humphrey to be apprehended as a fugitive from Justice, and allow him to be forthwith returned to the jurisdiction of this Republic in order that he may be dealt with according to law. And you are further requested to cause all Magistrates, Mar- shalls, Sheriffs, and other officers of Justice to be aiding and assisting in the arrest and return of the above named James Humphrey. The in.terposition of your Authority in this case is requested, upon the basis of that Amity which should always exist between
